Construction Design Management (CDM07) and Timber Frame Projects.
Changes to the CDM Regulations now mean that ensuring that every projects conforms to Health & Safety back on the person who commissions or owns the building. Anyone who has a hand in the design of a building once it has gone past the conceptual design stage must now ensure that it is safe during the whole project such as manufacture, storage, loading, transport, off-loading, site storage, erection etc and eventual demolition. This really does mean that if you are contemplating a building project you should get all the members of your team together and appoint a project co-ordinator as early on as possible.

Managing Structural Timber Projects.
Today building with timber frame is not simply an adaptation of old fashioned ‘wet build’ practices. For a start a new body of science is rapidly growing around the way timber structures perform, quite apart from the differences between the factory manufacture of engineered timber components.

Energy Efficient Timber Construction
Timber is an excellent insulator and is naturally low in thermal conductivity. It is 15 times better as an insulator than concrete, 400 times better than steel and 1770 times better than aluminium. In fact a 2.5cm timber board has better thermal resistance than an 11.4cm thick brick wall. Using timber frame to build your house can help reduce your energy bills and if all homes built in Britain since 1945 had been made of timber frame the UK would have produced over 300 million tonnes less CO2 emissions.
