Your Job
You will liaise with clients to obtain their requirements, produce drawings specifications & details before producing manufacturing and erection drawings + materials schedules in accordance with CDM requirements. Before work starts you will brief panel makers, erection teams, and site service logistics personnel to make sure everything on your project runs smoothly. Directly, or via outworkers, you will obtain or verify approvals from local authorities and government departments. Once work has started you will deal with site queries, interim payments and certificates.
Job Scope
As a TimberTecs architectural technician / technologist you will work on a wide range of projects, from the mundane to the exciting & exotic, from home extensions and self build houses, to developer and housing association schemes, schools, churches, health care, resort and hospitality buildings in the UK and overseas. After successfully ‘earning your spurs’ you can look forward to being promoted to a senior technical positions which may include responsibility for supervising staff.
Knowledge Development
Keeping abreast of regulatory changes and material developments, you will help to keep the company at the forefront of environmentally sustainable building structures, ensuring through surveys that these are properly designed for their sites, checking roof, floor and wall details to deliver performance in advance of current requirements and recommendations.
Your Tools .
Using computers with CAD software, drawing instruments, levels and calculators, you will work a basic 40 hour week but sometimes need to put in extra time to satisfy project demands and client needs. You will be responsible for designing buildings from the roof down, including roof trusses, walls, joist frames and floors. But don’t worry about this because training will be given. .

Your Skills & Qualifications.
You will have a good standard of drawing and hand-writing, computer & CAD skills. Since we normally work in conjunction with clients and other professions, good communication skills are necessary as is the ability to work in a team, often under pressure.
